You know the feeling when you come home to a clean house, and you feel like you can breathe a small sigh of relief?! You can focus on what’s important right now, you can rest, you can work without distraction.

When hungry people get the food they need, or are able to secure a resource that will keep them fed, the feeling is the same. I think if we have a little, we can give a little, and if we have a lot, we should give a lot! In Oregon, many food pantries are seeing less donations and a big spike in need.

In Milwaukie, Oregon a place called Esthers Pantry could use donations. Check out their organization here https://www.ourhouseofportland.org/esthers-pantry. Also, check out this KPTV news clip about it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msDJjdz20q0

You can donate to the following places (food or personal care items) and Esthers Pantry will pick up your donations.

SE Belmont, Prism Health, inner SE Portland

2236 SE Belmont St, Portland OR 97214

Cascade AIDS Project – Pearl district

520 NW Davis St Suite 215, Portland OR 97209

Q Center – N Portland

4115 N Mississippi Portland OR 97217

There is also something called PDX Free Fridge. There is no tax deduction possible here, however if you just want to help people stay fed (or need some food), this is an option. There are fridges around town in North Portland, NE Portland, SE Portland and around Beaverton that the community stocks up and then people take what they need. Use this map and get your donations ready, they take fresh perishable and non perishable, unopened food as well as hygiene items. https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=1DChTeyHNl17h4eFvG-vckktQRjf5jCMT&ll=45.50701682003745%2C-122.65396036908263&z=11

Please take a look at their FAQ’s here https://sites.google.com/view/pdx-free-fridge/community-guidelines?authuser=0

In SW Portland near Capitol Hill you can find Neighborhood House at 8959 SW Barbur. This is a great organization that supports the community via providing them groceries and delivering food to their doorstep. You can donate directly to them here https://nhpdx.org/donate2/ or donate your perishable or non perishable food items at their location in SW Portland.
